The Voice Season 19 Premiere - Blind Auditions Part 1

The Voice is back y’all

We never knew we’d get to see it, but season 19 is back

Despite the pandemic the show is able to continue using COVID-19 protocol

A virtual audience, social distancing coaches chairs, no hugs after being chosen. But the show is back. To give the winning coach artist bragging rights and free exposure a recording contract

Back for his 19th season is OG coach Blake Shelton. Joining him are Kelly Clarkson and John LegendGwen Stefani is back after a season off.

Let’s get started

Tamara Jade - Cuz I Love You by Lizzo

Tamara is 30 years old and is from Maryland. Her family immigrated from the Caribbean when she was young. In 2016 she moved to New York where she was able to appear at the Apollo theater and Off Broadway shows, as well as perform at the VMAs with Lizzo.

She has a great voice and Kelly and John turn within seconds. She has a big voice but it has a lot of control. Gwen and Blake turn within the last few seconds. First four chair turn of the season. Also, her family is watching virtually. Kelly says her voice is incredible and says she will be in the finale. Kelly says it would help that she’s on the team of a vocal competition vet. Blake thinks she could win. John loves her versatility. Gwen thinks she can help with her rap singing and loves her personality. Tamara picks John.

We have a quick bit of Gwen posting on social media of what it’s like during the pandemic filming The Voice. We have a funny bit of Blake pretending to use the bathroom while she’s filming. HA!

Lauren Frihauf - Come to my Window by Melissa Etheridge

Lauren is 16 and is from a rural Colorado town. Her family lives on a farm where she enjoys singing. She went to the school of rock where she learned how to find her voice.

For a 16 year old she has a very mature voice. John is the first to turn, followed by Gwen. Gwen can’t believe she’s 16. She loved how her voice has style and personality. Lauren Picks Gwen.

Joseph Soul - Is This Love by Bob Marley

Joseph comes from an island in Hawaii that has no electricity. He’s also a DJ, but singing is a big part of his life

He has a great voice. A mix between reggae, jazz, and Soul. Blake and Kelly turn halfway into the performance. Kelly calls him an incredibly gifted vocalist. Blake jokes that Kelly thought his song was by Warrant. Blake talks about how many times he’s won. Joseph picks Kelly

Ian Flanigan - Colder Weather by Zac Brown Band

He lives in a motor home with his family. His daughter is homeschooled

Interesting interpretation of the song. He’s got a great soulful voice. Blake is the only one to turn. Blake says the voice doesn’t match his look. Gwen loves his voice. Kelly says the only reason she didn’t turn because she didn’t know if he had a range. Blake thinks he sounds like Joe Cocker. Ian joins Team Blake

A quick bit with Carson on stage talking to the coaches

Hailey Green - Soulshine by Allman Brothers Band

She’s 14 and is a high school football player. She sings the national anthem at her games

She’s god a decent voice but really needs some work. Of course she gets no turns. Kelly loves her voice but wasn’t fully confident in choosing her, and tells her to come back. Blake thinks there something special about her. Gwen suggests she write some songs. No Turns

Jim Ranger - Blue Ain’t Your Color  by Keith Urban

He’s a third generation pastor. He’s been singing since he was a child. His wife and him were born a week apart.

He has a great voice. He’s really make this song his own. John turns first, followed by Gwen, then Blake turns at the last second. I loved the ending of the song. Gwen name drops No Doubt and their connection to Bakersfield, as well as saying he should join her team because of her number one country song with Blake. John thinks he’s a great vocalist. Blake loved the build at the end. Lol @ John making a fake political ad on why Jim should choose him  Jim picks Blake

Eli Zamora -

His family is from Mexico. His family immigrated to the US. After moving to American he couldn’t speak English.

He’s singing in Spanish. He has a great Latin voice, but I don’t know if he’ll make it far. Kelly is the only one to turn. Kelly and Gwen both call him amazing. Blake didn’t turn because he didn’t think he’d be the right coach. Eli joint Team Kelly

Payge Turner -

It’s a blind audition for viewers Blake and Gwen both turn. She’s originally from Trinidad and Tobago but grew up in Kansas. She has a great soulful voice. Gwen loved her control. John called her a real artist Payge picks Gwen

Corey Ward -

Grew up with a single mom. He was the only boy in the house. His mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. Ooh I thought this was gonna be a county singer. He has a great pop/soul sound. Sadly he got no turns. None of the coaches were feeling it. No Turns

Marisa Corvo - Perfect by Pink

She struggled with coming out. Her parents didn’t accept her at first but now they have a good relationship. Wow her voice is amazing. Kelly, Blake and Gwen finally turn. Kelly likes her tone. Gwen loves her accent. Marissa picks Kelly

John Holiday - Misty by Johnny Mathis

We don’t see his face at first. He has a very high almost countertenor voice. Gwen, John, and Kelly turn, but Kelly was blocked. John was teased for being gay as well as his high

Voice. The coaches all loved his performance. Oh they’re fighting over him. John picks John

Well that’s a wrap for tonight! The premiere was great. Part 2 of the blinds are tonight
