Dancing with the Stars - Week 6 - Top 11 Perform

 Another week of dancing

The show starts off with a fun bit as Derek Hough is getting a performance review.

Tyra opens the show wearing a flashy outfit as usual.

Judge Derek Hough is dancing tonight as well so it should be fun

Johnny Weir & Britt - Salsa - On the Floor by Jennifer Lopez

Well it’s not as good as last week but a real entertaining dance. I’m not seeing the consistency I thought I would with Johnny. I guess I expect more from a figure skater. Derek said there were a few misses. Bruno loves the costume and said it needed more grounded hip action. Carrie Ann said it wasn’t his best dance, but he found it towards the end

Scores: Carrie Ann - 7 Derek - 8 Bruno - 7

Total: 22/30

Nev Schuman & Jenna - Jazz - Good Vibrations by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch

Lol. Jenna had no idea Marky Mark and Mark Wahlburg were the same person. Another great routine from Nev. He’s one of the biggest surprises of the season. He gets better each week. Bruno called the routine deliciously bonkers and said he felt like he was at a rave. Someone needs to take Bruno’s drugs. Anyway, Carrie Ann called it a war of two worlds but it worked. Derek thought the routine was great.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 9 Bruno -8

Total: 26/30

Monica Aldama & Val - Rumba - Have I Told You Lately by Rod Stewart

Ok Monica is a great dancer, I get it. But she’s got such a boring personality. Ugh they’re interviewing her husband and he’s just as boring *yawn*

Ok again it’s a nice, elegant routine but for some reason I can’t get behind Monica. It seems like there are some missteps too. Carrie Ann says she’s amazing in the ballroom. Derek said he thinks she’s enjoying it, and thinks her balance is impressive. Bruno said it had the right balance of sensuality and romance.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 9 Bruno - 9

Total: 27/30

Skai Jackson & Alan - Cha Cha - Say So by Doja Cat and Nicky Minaj

Skai is someone I had high hopes for, but she hasn’t been very consistent. Oh boy. This doesn’t start good at all. She seems very stiff. Maybe she’s nervous. Derek commended her for carrying on after her mess up. Bruno loves the K-Pop look. Carrie Ann said she was proud of her.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 6 Derek - 6 Bruno - 6

Total: 17/30 (Yikes)

Vernon Davis & Peta - Cha Cha - Celebration by Kool and the Gang

Man this is not a good routine. Vernon is very sloppy on his movements. This week is showing who really has a chance to win and who doesn’t. Vernon looks so confused on the dance floor. Bruno called it bright and colorful, and liked the timing but he needed to watch his footwork. Carrie Ann enjoys watching him dance, but there were a lot of mistakes. Derek called him smooth

Scores: Carrie Ann - 7 Derek - 7 Bruno - 7

Total: 21/30

Nelly & Daniella - Viennese Waltz - Humble and Kind by Tim McGraw

Wow! This may be Nelly’s best routine so far. Just a beautiful dance. Nelly I believe could be a dark horse with the way he’s improving. Carrie Anna called it beautiful and elegant Derek said it was fantastic. Bruno called Nelly charming and enduring.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 8 Derek - 8 Bruno - 8

Total: 24/30

Next Derek and his girlfriend Haley Erbert do a routine together. Ok this is fun. It’s nice to see Derek back on the same stage his career started.

Jeannie Mai & Brandon - Rumba - You Gotta Be by Des’ree

Another great routine by Jeannie. She’s really a contender and I’m here for it. Derek was laughing because of how good the dance was. huh??? Bruno called her a smoldering Siren. Carrie Ann called her stunning, but she needs to work on her transitions.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 8 Derek - 8 Bruno - 9

Total: 25/30

AJ McLean & Cheryl - Samba -

Fantastic routine from these two! Probably their best of the season. AJ has a great personality and it really shows in this dance. Bruno said he did a very good samba. Carrie Ann called it a breakthrough performance. Derek said it was a fun routine

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 9 Bruno - 9

Total: 27/30

Chrishell Stause & Gleb - Contemporary - Stars by Grace Potter

It was a pretty routine. Carrie Ann said she could feel her emotions. She reminded Chrishell to point her toes. Derek wants her to get better. Bruno called it emotional engaging

Scores: Carrie Ann - 8 Derek - 8 Bruno - 8

Total: 24/30

Kaitlyn Bristowe & Artem - Samba - Sorry by Justin Bieber

This is a great routine. Kaitlyn is really impressive. I didn’t see her doing well, but she could actually win. Derek said she needs to focus more but it was a beautiful Samba Bruno said he believes in her. Carrie Anna called it well executed, but said she wasn’t super impressed. The boo track plays in the ballroom. That’s one thing I hate about the ongoing pandemic are the fake audience noises.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 9 Bruno - 9

Total: 27/30

Justin Machado & Sasha - Viennese Waltz - She’s Always a Woman by Billy Joel

Justina is one of my favorites and this week she does not disappoint. A truly beautiful performance. Bruno said it was smooth as silk and called her arradiant. Carrie Ann called her a beautiful dancer. Derek said she’s very consistent and said they were in sync

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 9 Bruno - 9

Total: 27/30

Scores

Monica & Val: 27

AJ & Cheryl: 27

Kaitlyn & Artem: 27

Justina & Sasha: 27

Nev & Jenna: 26

Jeannie & Brandon: 25

Chrishell & Gleb: 24

Nelly & Daniella: 24

Johnny & Britt: 22

Vernon & Peta: 21

Skai & Alan: 18

After a fantastic night it’s time for results

In no particular order, the couples safe are.....

 Nelly & Daniella (Yay!)

Jeannie & Brandon

Monica & Val (meh)

Chrishell & Gleb

AJ & Cheryl (Yay!)

Justina & Sasha (woohoo)

Kaitlyn & Artem

Nev & Jenna

And

Skai & Alan (wow that’s a shock)

Johnny & Britt and Vernon & Peta are the Bottom Two and the judges must save one

Derek saves Johnny & Britt

Carrie Ann saves Vernon & Peta

Bruno saves Johnny & Britt

So we say goodbye to Vernon & Peta

I’m not shocked and Vernon & Peta going. I didn’t expect Johnny & Britt to be in the bottom two. Then again they haven’t been the most consistent couple. Same with Skai & Alan who I was for sure would at least land in the bottom two.

Next week it’s villains week
