Dancing with the Stars - Week 7 - Villains Night - Recap

It’s time for Halloween themed Villains Night. Tonight the 10 remaining couples performed for your votes and at the end of the night one couple went home.

The show opens with a fun found footage intro. I’m actually tired of these corny cold opens. This isn’t SNL people.

Tyra walks out looking like a horror film reject. Oh wait I forgot she was in Halloween Resurrection. No wonder the movie failed. Lol

Anyway let’s get started

Jeannie Mai & Brandon - Paso Doble inspired by Hannibal Lector - Maneater by Nelly Furtado

This routine is deliciously fun. Great routine by Jeannie. The choreography is amazing here. Ooh the judges are dressed up. Carrie Ann is Pennywise, Derek is Dr Jekyll & and Mr Hyde, and Bruno is Beetlejuice. Derek called it an amazing paso doble. Bruno said she was irresistible to watch but she needed a rabies show. He also said she needed to work on extending the lines. Carrie Ann popped a balloon and called it incredible, and loved the excitement.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 8 Derek - 9 Bruno - 8

Total: 25/30

Johnny Weir & Britt - Viennese Waltz inspired by Dracula - Creep by Radiohead

Now Johnny & Britt were in the bottom 2 last week. A lot of people were upset, but I wasn’t surprised at all. Johnny has been very inconsistent this season and I expect a lot more from a figure skater. His days are numbered. Ok this week Johnny is on the top of his game. This is a beautiful routine.

This is what he needs to do each week here on out if he wants to win. The biggest front runner really has the odds stacked against him. Bruno said it was very, very, good. Carrie Ann said he floated through it like a dream. Derek loved

The costume and theme. He loved the dancing and called everything the perfect formula.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 9 Bruno - 9

Total: 27/30

Chrishell Stause & Gleb - Paso Doble inspired by Maleficent - In the Air Tonight

Chrishell is another person who has been very inconsistent. This week she’s doing amazing. This is a fun, spooky routine. Carrie Ann called it simple but it was executed beautifully.

Derek called it cinematic. Bruno called the routine mesmerizing, but said she lost

The fluidity at times.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 9 Bruno - 8 Total: 26/30

Monica Aldama & Val - Jazz inspired by Nurse Rached - Fever

Monica is great. She’s just so damn boring. This routine is great. Very sensual and she’s actually showing somewhat of a personality. Derek felt the seductive energy, but she lost the character. Bruno said there were some movement issues. Carrie Ann agreed.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 7 Derek - 8 Bruno - 7

Total: 22/30

AJ McLean & Cheryl - Tango inspired by Psycho - Psycho Theme

This is another great routine from AJ. Cheryl hasn’t won in years so it’d be nice to see her finally win again. Carrie Ann thought they brought light and shade but AJ needed to work on posture. Derek loved the intro and he loved the footwork. Bruno loved the routine.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 8 Bruno - 9

Total: 26/30

Ooh a fun bit they did with Bruno making prank calls but everyone knew it was him

Nelly & Daniella - Argentine Tango inspired by Freddy Kruger - I Can’t Feel my Face by The Weeknd

Nelly just gets better each week. This is a great routine. Carrie Ann called it his best dance so far. Derek said he’s such a great partner for Daniella.  Bruno said he killed the Argentine Tango.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 9 Bruno - 9

Total: 27/30

Justina Machado & Sasha - Tango inspired by Carrie - Take me to Church

Justina is one of the most consistent this season. I reallyHope she makes it to finale night. Once again Justina does not disappoint. Fantastic routine from her. Derek said she set the place on fire and called it awesome.  Bruno said to watch her steps, but called it a powerful routine. Carrie Ann called her one of the best dancers and has a shot at winning.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 9 Bruno - 8

Total: 26/30

Nev & Jenna - Paso Doble inspired by Black Swan

Wow! This is a dark, elegant amazing routine. Nev is one of biggest surprises of the season. Bruno called it perfect. Carrie Ann said he exceeded expectations. Derek called it gorgeous.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 10 Derek - 10 Bruno - 10 FIRST PERFECT SCORE OF THE SEASON!

Skai Jackson & Alan - Argentine Tango inspired by Bride of Chucks

This is an insanely creepy routine. Much better routine than last week. I just don’t see skai having much of a chance of winning like I thought before. She’s been very inconsistent. Carrie Ann said she did a great job. Derek said she killed the routine. Bruno loved how she extended the shapes.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 9 Derek - 9 Bruno - 9

Total: 27/30

Kaitlyn & Artem - Paso Doble inspired by Cruella De Vill - Disturbia by Rihanna

Awesome routine from Kaitlyn. Derek loved the form and the shaping. Bruno loved the routine but didn’t like the timing. Carrie Ann said to work work on shaping. She also said she felt Kaitlyn was giving up at some points.

Scores: Carrie Ann - 7 Derek - 9 Bruno - 8

Total: 24/30

 Now it’s time for results

In no particular the couple who are safe are....

Nev & Jenna (Yes!)

Johnny & Britt

Skai & Alan

Nelly & Daniella (wow)

Chrishell & Gleb (Uh-oh)

Justina & Sasha (Yay!!)

AJ & Cheryl

And

Kaitlyn & Artem

Bottom Two are Monica & Val and Jeannie & Brandon

Bruno saves Jeannie & Brandon

Derek saves Monica & Val

Carrie Anna saves Jeannie & Brandon

Monica & Val are Eliminated

Well this wasn’t a surprise. I knew her time was coming. She was a great dancer but no personality. I was surprised Jeannie & Brandon were in the bottom Two. Then again the competition is getting more cutthroat so it was bound to happen.

Next week is a DOUBLE ELIMINATION
