Project Runway - Season 20: All Stars - Pre-Season Rankings

Next week, the 20th season of Project Runway premieres.

It’s the first all star edition not including Lifetime’s standalone all star series.

It will feature 14 designers who competed on the first 19 seasons of the show.

One thing notable is there are no former winners competing. It’s kind of upsetting that we don’t get to see any former winners try and win a second time, but it’s good because it sort of levels the playing field.

Today I’ll be ranking the 14 designers based on a few things. Their challenge wins/loses as well as their placements on previous seasons.

14. Nora Pagel - Season 1(8th Place)

Of all the people they could’ve brought back this season, they choose Nora. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to see her. But she didn’t shine that much on season 1. Back then she was only 22, and was obviously up against people who were much more experienced than her. I really want her to do well, however until I see how she’s matured, I’m giving her a low ranking.

13. Kayne Gillaspie - Season 3(5th Place), All Stars 2(9th Place)

As a person, I genuinely like Kayne, and I feel he brought a lot to the table in terms of just being on the show. However, I honestly don’t think he’ll do as well as much as I’m hoping. In his entire franchise career, Kayne has only won a single challenge, and of course it was the pageant gown challenge in season 3. Other than one other time in the top, his performance on the show has been pretty mediocre. He pretty much flopped on All Stars  2 finishing 9th. Like i said, I’d love him to do well, but right now I think the odds are stacked against him.

12. Prajjè Oscar Jean Baptiste - Season 19(8th Place)

Prajjè is another designer I don’t know much about because I didn’t watch season 19. Unlike, Nora, the other 8th place one timer, he did much better in challenges. He did finish in the top four times, one of which was a win. He did land in the bottom three times over the course of the season, so he’s definitely not the most consistent. I don’t think he’ll win, but I’m also unsure how far he’ll go. So he sits here for now.

11. Mila Hermanovski - Season 7(3rd Place), All Stars 1(6th Place)

Mila was a fan favorite on her season. However, her performance hasn’t been fantastic, but not bad either. In season 7 she started off strong, however started on some sort of plateau, and never seemed to bounce back. She didn’t fare to good on All Stars either, finishing in 6th place after several lackluster performances. She was close to the edge several times season 7, but somehow managed to make the finale, and didn’t come close in all stars being beat by many talented designers. I feel we will see a repeat of All Stars 1 for her this season. She’s in a group of far more superior designers, so sadly I not very optimistic about her performance this season.

10. Anna Yinan Zhou - Season 19(7th Place)

I won’t lie, I didn’t see much of season 19, however, Im ranking Anna lower for a few reasons. First off, she placed 7th on her season, and she seems to have a rather lackluster challenge record, only being in the top twice which includes  one challenge win , and being in the bottom 3 times. She’s someone who will really have to step up their game to prove they deserve to go the distance.

9. Brittany Allen - Season 18 (6/5th place)

I’m a huge Brittany fan, and I know she has a lot of fans in the Project Runway fan community. I really want her to do well, however, looking at a lot of inconsistencies in her season. She won two challenges during season 18, and was at the top one other time. What really makes me not confident in her is the fact she had to be saved by Siriano in order to continue in the competition, only to be eliminated before the finale after her second poor performance in a row. I don’t know what to think. She’s a big wild card for me.

8. Bishme Comartie - Season 17(4th Place)

Again, season 17 isn’t a season I really paid attention to. However Bishme has a few things going for him. First he came very close to the finale. Also he has been in the top several times his season, and also won twice. He only was in the bottom once during his season. Bishme is one to watch I believe.

7. Hester Sunshine - Season 17(Runner-Up)

Again I’m not very familiar with Hester. I know she’s quirky, which I like, she will be entertaining to watch. Out of all the finalists in her season, she won the most challenges out of the three of them, but also she was in the bottom more than the other two, plus the fact she’s up against much better finalists, and seasoned designers, it could spell disaster for her.

6. Viktor Luna - Season 9(3rd Place) All Stars 3(5th place)

Another designer that had a strong showing on both of his Project Runway appearances.

Viktor was fairly consistent in challenges, and was in the top more than he was at the bottom. I think he could do well this season, win may be a long shot due to the caliber of talent though.

5. Rami Kashou - Season 4(Runner-Up), All Stars 1(8th Place)

Rami is one of my

Personal favorites over the course of his appearances on project runway. In his first season he managed to finish in the top four times, and won two of those challenge, and although he finished in the bottom four times as well, he is still talented. He also did remarkably well in All Stars until his shocking elimination. He has a great shot at winning this season, but I’m unsure if he’ll go the distance this season.

4. Fabio Costa - Season 10(Runner-Up), All Stars 4(5th Place), All Stars 6(Runner-Up)

In his three seasons competing in the project runway franchise, Fabio has done remarkably well. He’s been high and low in challenge, but for the most part pretty consistent. As long as he stacks up with other fierce designers, I think Fabio has a decent chance of going far again. Maybe even winning.

3. Korto Momolu - Season 5(Runner Up), All Stars 3(Runner Up)

Korto is a fan favorite who a lot of people say she was robbed not only once, but twice. Although she did finish in a bottom a few times over the two seasons she competed on, Korto consistently finished at the top, even going on a 6 week streak in season 5. Considering she came in second twice, it shows what a talented designer she is, and I’m already naming her a contender to win.

2. Laurence Basse - Season 15(3rd Place)

Laurence is another person I didn’t really watch much of her season. However, she’s been fairly consistent in challenge performance, and only

Landed in the bottom once on her season. You could probably argue, that she should’ve won her season, considering she did better than her fellow finalists. If she’s as good as she was in season 15, I really could see her making it far.

1. Kara Saun - Season 1(Runner Up)

Kara Saun is the OG robbed queen from back in the day. Even if you asked someone today, They’d probably say she was indeed robbed a win on season 1. Not to mention, Jay, who won the first season didn’t ever win a single challenge. In the first season, Kara Saun won Four challenges, and was only in the bottom once. She’s one of my favorites to win going into the season. I’m not 100% sure of her winning just because of the talent they’ve brought back,

But I’d be very surprised if she isn’t a finalist.

Project Runway Season 20 premieres Thursday June 15 at 9:00 on Bravo.
