The Bachelor Season 27 - Week 2 Recap
Now that the corny limo arrivals, desperate attempts at getting kisses, and champagne stains have been cleaned up, it’s time for the real competition to begin. Dates begin tonight!
The 20 remaining women are shown moving into the mansion. The girls decided to share a toast before they start hating each other. Next we get a shower thirst trap with Zach.
Is we have Jesse with the girls discussing opening night. He’s asking dumb questions of course. Zach told Jesse that he really believes, that his wife is in the room.
Jesse lets him know all of them will be going on dates this week. Two group dates, and one, 1-on-one date.
Group Date #1 - Brianna, Brooklyn, Katherine, Mercedes, Bailey, Avia, Cat, Genevie, and Kylee.
The date card says, “I’m looking for Big Big Love.” They’re gonna get boobs jobs on their first date?
No, thankfully
They walk into what looks like a strip club you’d see on Grand Theft Auto Vice City. Latto, who I’ve never heard of until today, walks out and said she’s looking for bad bitch energy. I’d this Latto some sort of Aldi Meghan Thee Stallion or something.
Anyway, Zach walks through the doors to one of Latto’s songs wearing a leather jacket.
Latto explains about bad bitch energy. I guess she’s gonna teach the girls how to be a bad bitch?
First up she asked the girls to show her their best dance moves. This should be fun.
There’s shimmying, twerking, grinding, yeeting, doxxing, etc. Zach comments that he’s ready to, “Get loose.” Dear god Zach, save that for the fantasy suite. Brooklyn remarks being out of place being there are professional dancers this season.
Next Latto drops a bomb. These women aren’t the only ones who will be on this date. The girls faces drop. Latto notes that bad bitches never get nervous. They do if someone is stealing the spotlight from their 15 minutes of fame.
In walk Victoria from Season 24, Tahzjuan from season 23, and Courtney from season 16.
Courtney explains that they aren’t here to steal their man, they just want to see him happy, so they’re here to help find his baddie. Isn’t that what New York was originally there for when she showed up on season 2 of Flavor of Love? Latto challenges the girls to walk through the doors and strut their stuff on the catwalk.
In walks Mercedes first, doing a sexy dance with a pole.
Cat walks in, naturally acting like a cat.
Genevie walks in with a streamer, and choked Zach with it. They’re looking for bad, not kinky.
Bailey walks in with a pink wig, looking for big wig energy as she remarks. Ha!
Katherine comes in with a gold cowgirl hat.
Kylee comes in wearing black angel winds. Is this foreshadowing her storyline this season. Bailey remarks that Kylee is definitely in her element, being an NBA dancer. Ok Kylee is definitely the baddest so far.
Now comes Brianna wearing a pink cowgirl hat, making it rain with fake money. She then starts to freak dance Zach.
For their second challenge, each of the girls mus tell Zach about a time when they were a bad bitch.
First up is Kylee who had naturally curly hair growing up. She entered a competition where they said that she needed to straight hair. She went in with her curly hair and won.
Brianna, said she used her own money to start s beauty company. Next up, a lame joke that’s been used so many times. Saying she left Tennessee And found the only “10” she sees. Who approved that?
Genevie says she’s a bad bitch because she’s goofy as hell. Next is Bailey who takes a shot of tequila with Zach. A little too early in the date.
Zach likes how the women are really stepping up and doing something that was not easy. He remarks the women really blew him away.
Latto calls the women confident and says they’re all bad bitches in her eyes.
Next, Tahzjuan talks about how much she loved Zach. Uh-oh. Looks like we may have someone wanting to join the girls in the harem.
Following the challenge, the girls head into the after party. Kylee talking about having feelings for Zach this soon, and really wants to kiss Zach.
Zach toasts the women, calling the first group date incredible.
Up first to talk to Zach is Katherine. Katherine likes that Zach has the same intentions as her. She loves her best friend thing as a foundation, but seems him more than a friend. They share a kiss.
The girls are now discussing getting the rose. Brianna has doubts about her relationship with Zach because unlike Greer, she received a first impression rose from American. She tells Zach the first few days were really hard, saying moving into the mention she really doesn’t have a support system. She felt rattled the first night,
And even considered going home, worried he didn’t want her. Zach says he’s impressed by her, and sees something in her. Zach asks for consent to kiss Brianna. Brianna is happy she can feel vulnerable with Zach.
Back in the mansion, the door knocks. They have a date card. The card is for Christina Mandrell. The note says, “let’s let our love soar.” The girls are happy for Christina receiving the 1-on-one date.
The girls on the group date are enjoying themselves together. Bailey notes there’s no drama right now.
And here comes Tahzjuan to ruin the vibe. The walks into the after party, and interrupts Cat to speak to Zach for a moment.
Cat tells the other girls about Tahzjuan’s arrival, leaving them all shocked.
Tahzjuan says Zach is the total package,
And wants to join this, “journey.”
Tahzjuan tells Zach he has a good head on his shoulders, and that’s what she’s looking for in a partner, and wants to be added to the mix. Zach tells Tahzjuan he’s gonna have to think about it.
The girls go to confront Tahzjuan, wanting to know her attentions. She explains was originally there to judge the baddest bitch competition. She feels like Zach has a lot to offer and she wants to get to know him. She said a lot of the girls missed their opportunity to connect with Zach. She says she doesn’t know if any of the girls could be the one for Zach, and says the girls should be nervous.
Zach steals Tahzjuan again, and then comes back to talk to the girls. He explains that he isn’t accepting Tahzjuan’s offer.
After explaining Tahzjuan won’t be joining the girls this season, he gives the rose to Katherine, who gladly accepts the rose.
Brianna is panicked because she wanted the rose, saying it felt like a slap in the face, and that she’s nervous about their connection.
It’s a new day in the mansion, and the girls are hanging by the pool, discussing getting a kiss from. Jesse, and whether or not they should use tongue while kissing. It’s like a conversation you’d hear at a middle school lunch table.
All the focus is on Christina, who gets the first 1-on-1 date of the season.
1-on-1 Date - Christina
Zach is excited for his date with Christina, considering she was the first person he met during after the final rose. They get in their production paid Ford Bronco. They engage in small talk on the way to their date, with Zach mentioning his first concert was Nickelback. That’s something I definitely didn’t think I’d hear. He likes that Christina is a free spirit and has a big heart. I won’t lie they are actually cute together.
They arrive at a helicopter, which Christina is extremely excited for. They tour Los Angeles and pass the Hollywood sign. Zach teased a surprise on their first date.
Following the helicopter ride, he takes Christina to his childhood home to meet his family. Meeting the family first in the season. Zach’s mom recently had a birthday, so they’re celebrating with a barbecue. I’d be terrified taking my girlfriend to meet my family on the first date.
Chelsea hangs out with the cousins at what seems is a kids table. She starts to get tea from Zach’s family about him. She’s definitely fitting in well. I sort of wrote Christina off at the beginning of the season, but I could totally see Zach ending up with her. She’s wanting him to see this side of her before revealing to him that she’s a single mom. She’s worried however that her confession may be too much for Zach.
Following the barbecue, Zach and Christina sit down at a table for what looks like a fake dinner. They drink what looks like wine, but I’d probably grape flavored kool-aid thanks to inflation.
Christina says Zach is lucky to have a loving family. Christina then tells Zach the news, that she has a daughter. Zach appreciates her being able to share this with her, remarking it’s a lot to take in, and that he definitely wants a family someday.
Zach says immediately going into a relationship with a kid is scary. He’s feeling all these feelings for her though, and doesn’t know if he’s ready for such a big step.
Back at the mansion, the ladies are discussing. They think the date is going well, and say she’s the most deserving of the first 1-on-1.
Back on the date, Zach explains that he’s overwhelmed. He says he does want a family, and that when he heard Christina was a mom, he was unsure if he was ready to be a dad. He offers the rose because he thinks the world of her, and he wants to learn more about her and her daughter.
Group Date #2 -
It’s time for the second group date of the week. The ladies meet the group in his backyard. He’s using this date to really get to know the second group.
First up to talk to Zach is Ariel. She tells Zach she was upset she didn’t get to talk to him the first night, despite her feeling a connection when she got out of the limo. She wants to be vulnerable and her and Zach both write down their biggest fears of being on The Bachelor. Ariel says her biggest fear was getting her heart broken, because it took her a long time to recover the last time her heart was broken. Zach’s biggest fear is falling for someone who wasn’t there for the right reasons. Her second biggest fear, was that she wouldn’t kiss tonight. So they kiss. There are way too many kisses being traded this season. That’s probably worse than telling multiple people you want to marry them.
Zach and Greer are chatting, talking about the feelings they had for each other, and they kiss too. What is going on here? He’s missing another! Ok this date is pretty lame so far. It seems more like a cocktail party makeout session than a date.
Now Zach sits down with Jess, and he talks about being diagnosed pyloric stenosis, a rare disease as a child.
Gabi feels like she’s behind because she’s one of the few people who really hasn’t sat down with Zach, and she finds it hard to hear all the other girls talk about their conversations.
Back at the mansion, girls are sitting around in bathrobes chatting. All the girls talk about it being a positive environment, however some girls are over sharing about their experiences in sort of a girl power type vibe.
Back at the date, the kissing continues, while other girls are having girl time.
Gabi finally gets her chance. She immediately starts talking about herself, how family is important, etc. just pointless stuff you’d read in a magazine about a celebrity. This endless word salad of random stuff if not the way You get to know a potential man. Gabi knows it didn’t go well, but still hopes he keeps her around.
Zach thanks the girls for coming, and decided to give his rose to Jess. The way they’re editing, there wasn’t much of a conversation except Zach’s story and a kiss.
Gabi is now whining about how her conversation didn’t go well, and how everyone is talking about kissing Zach and their time with him.
I see a trend may be, instead of petty drama, this season may be all about the girls just whining about time they aren’t spending with Zach.
Cocktail Party
After all the dates, and three roses already being given out, we now turn our attention to the cocktail party.
Brianna has been having a lot of anxiety and fear, still worrying if Zach really wants her there.
Zach walks into the cocktail party, once again thanking the ladies for being here. He said it was a real fun week. I mean the first two dates were great, but the third date wasn’t even a date.
Zach talks with Gabi first. He’s asking how things are going for her. Gabi says it’s getting easier but it’s been a hard adjustment, and it feels like they’re a little behind getting to know one another. Gabi says that she appreciates how he makes an effort to talk to all the women. After their talk, she gives Zach a jar of peanut butter cups. They then, “lady and the tramp,” a peanut butter cup. She finally got her kiss! She’s very happy.
Next is Brooklyn, who teaches Zach how to use a lasso. He’s having troubles so she gives him two kisses for good luck.
As the girls one by one have conversations with Zach, Brianna is still whining about their connection.
Brianna begins to talk about a conversation on night 1, she had with Christina. Christina made some comments to Brianna, that she didn’t like, including saying that she hated her. Without even thinking maybe Christina was just possibly having playful banter, she decides to talk to Christina about the situation.
She tells Christina that the comments, made the first night harder for her, and made her feel that she was being put in an unsafe environment. Christina immediately apologized, and understands how that made her feel, but doesn’t remember saying it. Brianna, then explains that, she’s “choosing” to believe she didn’t remember saying she hated her, and is “choosing” to believe she didn’t mean it maliciously; and that if they’re going to be friends, she’s going to have to see a lot of action from Christina. What the hell was that all about anyway. Brianna is letting one conversation ruin her time on the show, or she’s using that as an excuse.
Brianna gets time to talk to Zach. She explains the first night that she was worried that there were negative feelings towards her. She begins to share that someone made a comment the first night that made her feel uncomfortable. Of course she doesn’t mention who it was, but why even say anything?
Zach tells Brianna that he feels she has too many walls up. This makes Brianna nervous.
Jesse comes in and steals Zach, meaning it’s time for the rose ceremony.
Rose Ceremony
Katherine, Christina, and Jess got roses during the dates, so they are automatically safe. Zach tells the ladies it can be overwhelming at times, and thanks the women for showing a lot about themselves.
He then offers roses to; Brooklyn, Genevie, Greer, Aly, Charity(I forgot she even existed), Kaity, Gabi, Ariel, Anastasia(Another girl I forgot about), Kylee, Davia, Mercedes, Bailey, and Brianna.
This means we say goodbye to; Cat, Kimberly, and Victoria J.
Cat is confused as to why she was sent home, and felt had she stayed another week, Zach would’ve noticed a connection.
I’m actually surprised with him keeping Brianna considering how insecure she is. As the episode she ended, she also stated she wasn’t here for drama.
Ok so the insecure girl, who was jealous that Christina got to meet Zach’s family, and tried to make a big deal over a joke night one, isn’t here for drama.
I think I’ve found the first crazy villain of the season, and I don’t think I’m ready.
