The Voice - Blind Auditions Part 2 - Recap

And here we go. The second night of Blind Auditions of the voice.

The show opens with John, Kelly, and Gwen talking about how many seasons Blake has won. Blake walks in wearing a robe and crown, lol

Let’s start

Taryn Papa - Anyway by Martina McBride

Taryn is 30 and is from Nashville, Tennessee. Their family used to sing together. Her and her grandpa were close. He eventually got Alzheimer’s. Her grandpa has passed and she moved to Nashville after that. She is in a country band and they perform at Ol Red’s in Nashville.

She has a gorgeous country voice. Blake turns around first followed by Kelly. Oop Kelly is blocked. Gwen turns last. I’m surprised John didn’t turn, but he really doesn’t stand a chance. Kelly is shocked that she got blocked. Blake brags he’s the only coach who knows who sings Anyway. Ha! Gwen loved how she sang in the moment and feels they could work really well together. They just need to stop. Blake is taking her. Blake says there’s no current female vocalist that sings like her. Of course not. And of course Taryn picks Blake. That’s the most surprising pick of the season so far. Not!

Liam St John - Sex and Candy by Marcy Playground

Liam is 29 and he’s from Spokane Washington.  He was born in the hospital parking lot in a car. He put music on the back burner to do long jumping. Well we know ANW will call He dropped a single and formed a band in 2018.

Wow, I didn’t expect this out of him. He dresses like an alternative rock hipster but he opens his mouth and he has a funky soulful voice. Blake turns first followed by Gwen. Blake says he doesn’t want to argue with Gwen. He loved his falsetto. John says he didn’t turn because he didn’t connect with the song. Gwen says she won’t lie to him. Liam picks Gwen!

Faye Moffett - Anyone by Demi Lovato

Faye is 35 and is from Tulsa. Played a lot of gigs until the pandemic shut everything down. When she was 10, she performed for Rosa Parks. Growing up her mom would work overnight. She’s auditioning for her mom.

An interesting so choice. She had a great voice. Her runs are beautiful. No one turns. Wow. I’m kind of shocked. Maybe they get it was too copycat. John said she had a lovely tone but she didn’t nail the runs. Gwen apologized for not pressing her button. Blake says she has a dominant vibrato that she needed to calm down. Kelly said she has an incredible talent. No Turns

Aaron Scott - Hemorrhage (In My Hands) by Fuel

He’s a rock singer from Wisconsin who kind of looks like a Chris Daughtry clone. He’s a middle school teacher who works with children who have behavioral and emotional needs. He has issues with depression and started writing songs. His wife and kids give him confidence.

He has a great rocker voice. A throwback to 90s and early 2000s rock. John is the first to turn followed by Black. Blake

Does an impression of a typical 2000s rocker. John said he had a lot of charisma. John would love to coach him. Gwen said 90s songs are a trigger for her. Kelly says rock is a dying genre. Blake starts talking about Wisconsin facts. Blake says the song brought him back to high school. Aaron picks Blake

Madeline Conser - Girl by Maren Morris

Her parents are very supportive of her. She has a huge personality

She has a great voice. Very country with a rock edge. Kelly is the only to push her button. Blake didn’t push his button because he knew Kelly blocked him. John said his voice has a lot of power. Gwen guessed correctly that she would’ve picked Kelly anyway. Madeline joins Kelly.

Cami Clune - Skinny Love by Bob Iver

Cami is from Buffalo New York and  started very young doing Dance and Theater. When she was 15 she found out she had a connective tissue disorder called Ehler-Danlos Syndrome. She uses music to help her.

She has an amazing voice. Very alternative vibe. Great voice. All four turn, and give her a standing ovation. Blake was blocked. John loves her tone. Gwen says she’d love to help tell her story. Kelly tells a story about getting a tattoo in Buffalo New York. Cami picks John

Parede Valtnenti-Johnson - Crossroads by Eric Clapton

He works on a hemp farm with his brother. People have issues pronouncing named. He was in choir and acting all through childhood.

He’s got a big bluesy voice. I love this guy. Aww bummer. No one turned. I’m kind of surprised. Kelly didn’t like the dynamics. John wanted to see more. Gwen loved her energy. No Turns

Ryan Gallagher - The Prayer by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion

Ryan is a seasoned veteran who sings operatic pop. Grew up in a tight knit family. His mom has MS. Due to the pandemic her immune system is compromised. His audition is blind for viewers. Kelly and Blake both turn.

I did not expect him to look how he looked. His voice is amazing. One of the best of the season so far. He’s gonna give John Holiday a run for his money. Blake tried to find a reason for Ryan to join his team. Kelly wants him on her team so they can sing a duet at the finale. Ryan picks Kelly

Chloe Hogan - What the World Needs Now is Love

She started singing and playing piano when she was 9. She eventually got to do a showcase with an 11 piece band.

She’s got a beautiful Jazzy voice. Gwen Is the only one to turn which really surprises me considering how good she is.

Kiari Moon - Wanted by Hunter Hayes

He’s a sergeant for the US Army. He started dancing very young. One day his dance instructor asked him to sing. He grew up poor and his mom worked two jobs. He joined the army to help out his family financially. He’s also gay and he met his husband in the military

Interesting song choice. Not the best choice but he has a great voice. He doesn’t get any turns which isn’t very surprising. Blake says he has a unique vibrato, and thought it was all over the map. John said he has potential. Gwen called him a diamond in the rough.

Sid Kingsley - Don’t think Twice It’s Alright by Bob Dylan

He doesn’t like flying so he took a train from Richmond Virginia to Los Angeles. He started out playing Saxophone. His mom wants him to pick Blake.

Wow! What a voice. Very soulful. Blake, John, and Gwen all turned. John loved how easy he hit the high notes. Gwen thinks his voice is strong and confident. Kelly was waiting for another level and vulnerability. Yes I’m shocked she turned too. Blake goes on about being the reigning voice champ. Blah blah blah. Oh they’re bringing his mom on the screen to say hi to Blake. Well mom didn’t get her wish. Sid went with John.

Well that wraps up two nights of great auditions. Sid was easily the best  of the night.

I have a feeling this is gonna be a good season y’all.
