The Voice - Blind Auditions Part 4 - Recap

It’s time for Night Four of The Voice Season 19 Blind Auditions. So far we’ve seen some amazing talent, but we’ll see less and less chair turns as it gets closer to the battle rounds

We begin with last night’s cliffhanger. Desz received a four chair turn and was left with the agonizing decision of which coach to pick. In the end she chose Team Kelly.

Now it’s time for tonight’s blind auditions.

Olivia Reyes - Falling by Harry Styles

She’s half Dominican and half Puerto Rican so culture is big in her family. She never sang in public. Her best friend signed her up to audition without her knowing. Ooh her frienx’s dad is actually Season 2 winner Jermaine Paul.

Olivia has a great voice. She hits the high notes very well. She’s very current which is good. John and Gwen both turn for her. John said her tone was so crystal clear. Gwen said it’s not only about the singing but also your story and she’d love her on Team Gwen. Olivia tells the coaches her friend’s dad is Jermaine. I bet Blake regrets not turning. Of course Blake is trying to get her to go for Team Gwen. Olivia picks John.

Tony Mason - What’s Going On by Marvin Gaye

He’s 56 years old!! Wow! He’s been singing for four decades. Him and his brother had a singing group and they had a number 2 song on Billboard. Eventually there were issues with the label and they were dropped.

I love his voice. He has a real old school vibe going. I mean it’s a given since he’s one of the oldest ones here. The performance is great. Aaaand no one turned. I hate that. He was really good. Blake backed away from his button because he wouldn’t be a good fit. John said his vibrato reminded him of Donny Hathaway. Gwen didn’t like the runs. No Turns

Sam Stacey - Fire and Rain by James Taylor

On its blind for the viewers. He’s singing James Taylor’s Fire & Rain. He’s got a great voice. Very authentic fold sound. Kelly,

Blake, and Gwen finally turn at the end.

After graduating college, Sam was working at a bank and playing music. He decided to move to LA to persue music full time.

Kelly wanted to see more range and if he picks

Her, he’s gonna push him out of his comfort zone. Blake says he’s friends with James Taylor, and would be proud to be his coach. John loves the warmth of his voice. Sam picks Blake.

Larriah Jackson - I’ll be There by Jackson 5

She’s only 15 and has been singing since she was young. Her dad left when she was two but ended up connecting with several biological siblings who were fathered by her dad.

She has a pretty good voice. Never heard the song in this octave but it’s great. I love the arrangement. Not my favorite artist so far but still good. Gwen is the only one to turn. Larriah joins Team Gwen

Payton Lamar -

Both her and her husband moved to Paris to pursue music. Wow her voice is very Jazzy. Blake turned at the last minute. John didn’t like her lower register but she did well on the high notes. Payton joins Team Blake

Van Andrew - Behind Blue Eyes by The Who

He’s the second oldest of 10 kids. He recently moved to Nashville to pursue music. Things were going well until a tornado hit,

Followed by coronavirus two weeks later.

He’s got a great alternative voice. He brings something different and I love it. Gwen and Blake turn at the same time. This should be fun lol. John Legend compares him to Fabio. Kelly found the performance pitchy. Gwen liked his unique voice. Blake said his voice was nothing like he’s ever heard. Van picks Gwen. This was actually a smart choice. He could do well on her team.

Tanner Gomes - Cowboys and Angels by Dustin Lynch

When he was 7, him and his mom were in a car accident. His mom got addicted to opioids after the accident, and Tanner used music to escape. He’s a fan of 90s country. His mom eventually got sober and talks to him virtually before his audition.

He sings a current country song, but I’m totally digging the 90s vibe in his voice. Kelly is first to turn. John and Gwen are the last to turn. I’m shocked Blake didn’t turn him around. Blake didn’t turn because he has too many country artists on his team. He suggests picking John or Gwen because neither have a country artist on their team. Gwen says that being with Blake would be a good reason to join her team. Kelly loves his old school country voice. Tanner picks Kelly! So happy with that choice

Well that your went by quick. Next week are the last blind auditions of the season before the battles begin!
