The Bachelor Season 27 - Week 3 recap

Time for another week of dates, drama, and an extremely insecure woman who has outstayed her welcome

Yes last week Zach opted to keep Brianna; despite her insecurities and random jealousy for Christina, which went as far to start drama over a joke night 1.

So we begin this week with Zach stepping out of the shower the morning after the rose ceremony. What’s with all these shower scenes. I’m waiting for Norman Bates to show up at any time.

After his shower, he sits in his living room and FaceTimes Sean Lowe. He tells Sean he’s feeling really good about the way things are going. Oh hello Catherine and the kids!

Jesse meets our 17 remaining ladies at the mansion. He congratulates them and points out they all got roses. Are you implying that women who don’t get roses aren’t immediately required to move out of the mansion Jesse?

He explains that there will be three days this week. Two 1-on-1 dates, and one group dates. He leaves the date card and exits stage left.

Kaity gets the 1-on-1 date. His note says he wants a love for the ages. The date isn’t until they evening, so no telling what he has planned.

1-on-1 Date #1 - Kaity

The girls hang in the living room as Kaity comes downstairs in a stunning green dress ready for her date. Zach shows up in the living room to sit down next to Kaity. Oh Zach is using the time to talk to all the girls. He’s trying so hard to make them jealous, and I love it.

Zach asks if Kaity likes surprises. If a girl said that to me, I might have to grab my iPhone and do a background check. Not a way you want to start your first date. Kaity seems interested though.

Oh there in a natural history museum. They have it to themselves for the entire evening. They’re in the dinosaur exhibit. If I were Kaity I’d run towards the door. Museums and dinosaurs don’t go well together. Where’s Jeff Goldblum when you need him?????

Going into commercial one of the oddest pieces of product placement I’ve ever seen. It’s a sneak peek of the Netflix film, “Your Place Or Mine,” followed by The Bachelor logo with, “stream on Hulu,” displayed underneath. ABC advertising their partnership with Hulu and promoting Hulu’s competition at the same time. K.

We’re back at the mansion and the ladies are still in the living room sulking about not being able to go on the 1-on-1 date. Oh it’s another date card.

Ariel, Mercedes, Kylee, Anastasia, Christina, Bailey,  Genevie, Brooklyn, Brianna, Jess, Davia, Katherine, Gaby, Charity, and Greer are doing the group date. Yikes at Brianna and Christina. Putting the insecure girl and the girl she’s jealous of on the same group date, what’s the worst that could happen?

Back at the museum, Zach and Kaity sit at a dinner table in a room of dinosaurs, without dinner. Because they are the dinner and the dinosaurs are the ones doing the eating. Zach asks Kaity what she’s looking for in a life partner. She said based on her past relationships, she knows what she doesn’t want. She said she was vulnerable with her ex in a toxic 7 year on and off relationship, that made her question her self worth. She says she just wants to feel safe, and someone who won’t run away when things get hard. She gets emotional during the conversation, saying she just wants a good man. Zach says she deserves so much more. He says she deserves more, and guys like that are idiots. They share a kiss. Of course Zach gives her the rose. They make such a sweet couple.

Zach isn’t ready to end the date, and asks if Kaity would like to spend the night at the museum with her. Oh he had another surprise too. I guess he’s gonna reveal the exhibits come alive at night. But really, it’s just A camping setup in front of an elephant exhibit. They even have pajamas!

All kidding aside, I could definitely see Zach picking Kaity at the end, they’re chemistry is undeniable.

It’s morning in the mansion, they notice Kaity’a suitcase is still there. The girls are a little confused as to what’s going on. Kaity finally

Shows up, and of course is gonna be grounded for missing her curfew.

She tells them all about their date, and that they spent the night at the museum. So much awkward silence in the room. Kaity said she didn’t even get any sleep.

Wow this is the most jealous I’ve seen this group of ladies.

Group Date - Ariel, Mercedes, Kylee, Anastasia, Christina, Bailey,  Genevie, Brooklyn, Brianna, Jess, Davia, Katherine, Gaby, Charity, and Greer

They’re on a football field. They are joined by Shawne Merriman and Antonio gates. It’s Bachelor Bowl V. Winners get to go to the after party, losers go to the locker room and are berated by Jesse. Not really, but one can dream right?

The girls are doing football training exercises to get ready for the game. Oh Jesse and Hannah Storm are commentating. This should be interesting. Oh they have supposed bachelor fans in the stand and a marching band.

During the first play we have an injury. It seemed like Anastasia got hurt. Oh she’s fine, now chilling on the sidelines with Zach. Well here’s something you don’t see. Gabi wet herself. I hope she bought a chance a clothes. In the end it’s the blue team that earns a trip to the

After Party. Of course Brianna is on the losing team, and continues crying. Zach better take her on a 1-on-1 before she goes all fatal attraction on him.

The ladies arrive at the after party, and share a toast. Zach walks in and joins the ladies.

First up to talk to Zach is Christina. She talks about  never playing football while Zach cradles her like a baby. What’s wrong with her voice? Is she getting a cold?

The girls are getting a little upset and uncomfortable with Christina talking about her 1-on-date

Meanwhile, Zach and Charity talk. Charity says things can get overwhelming, but she’s doing better with the experience. Zach says he’s a big fan of hers, and that she likes her presence. Of course they share a kiss, something that has become a trend this season.

Back at the mansion, the losing team are sitting around, when there’s a knock on the door.

It’s a gown, and a note for Ally. She gets a 1-on-1 date with Zack. Oh it’s a wedding dress. Interesting.

Back at the mansion, Christina continues to brag about her 1-on-1 date. The girls confront her, and tell her to stop talking so much about the 1-on-1, calling it malicious.  Next we have Zach and Bailey having a conversation. Bailey has felt weird about their relationship. Zach says  in a roundabout way that he isn’t feeling a connection, before they are interrupted. Bailey didn’t get the response she was hoping for.

Bailey is confused about Zach’s feelings. She steals Zach and they talk again. She reassured that she wants to be here, but wants that validated. Zach says he’s not confident there isn’t a future between the two of them. Bailey explains she’s shocked. Zach explains he’s not feeling their relationship was growing, so he sends her home. Bailey tells the girls the news, and they’re extremely shocked.

Christina pipes in and says something I really can’t make out, but I think what she’s saying is something about Bailey being a roommate, and people getting sent home is inevitable? I’m lost.

The group is upset with her comments, and thinks it’s poor taste to say that after someone is sent home.

Zach joins the girls and explains why he sent her home. He then decided to give a rose to Charity. The faces Christina are making are priceless. Christina then says she’s confused as to why Charity got the rose and not her. Brooklyn  starts to explain to Christina that she tries to make every conversation about her. Christina says she’s trying to be “100” and say everything. What???? That makes no sense whatsoever. Charity is so upset by Christina’s so she walks out.

The next morning, all the ladies are talking. The girls are told about Bailey’s exit, and Charity getting the rose.

1-on-1 date #2 - Ally

Zach meets Ally in a tux at an airport. Oh they’re skydiving. I could never do this. Zach and Ally are a lot braver than I am. Ok but did they Jane to show the caution sign that says Propellers rip off heads though? Is this foreshadowing that the season will end abruptly due to decapitation? Fortunately they make it out alive.

Next Zach and Ally get cozy in a hot tub while drinking wine. Next they take an ancient elevator to another fake dinner. They discuss how incredible jumping out of the plane was. Ally tells Zach she likes to be in control of her day, and it stems from being in controlling relationships, calling it her comfort space. Zach explains he’s felt that way in the past as well, and what he wants to see more of her, calling her “kick ass.” Zach then hands her a rose, saying he wants their relationship to continue to grow. He’s really excited to see what happens between them.

They then go to a private concert featuring Griffen Palmer, who I haven’t heard of until now. The song is sweet though.

Now that all the dates are over, the girls gather back at the mansion where they meet Jesse. He reminds them about the upcoming rose ceremony. He also reveals that instead of the traditional cocktail party, they’re having a pool party. This should be fun!  For now, they’re having fun, playing in the pool, firing up the barbecue. I’m sure this will be short lived.

Ariel joins Zach in the hot tub. He says he didn’t expect the bachelor process would be as fun as it is, and he is enjoying it. He says the romantic spark is definitely there with Ariel.

Next Zach and Jess talk, she explain she can be an over thinker, and wears her heart on her sleeve. She says she gets excited anytime Zach comes around.

Brianna is still upset that she’s seeing all these connections being formed with Zach and the other ladies. She again talks about being heartbroken and said she’s on her way out the door.  Zach tells Brianna that  it feels off and guarded when they talk, and says it seems unnatural. Brianna then saus that she is wanting to leave, because of Christina. She says she made Charity and herself cry, and leaves the mansion. Brianna is trying to make Christina’s behavior is a lot worse then what we’ve seen, like she’s exaggerating the situation.

The ladies as shocked about Brianna’s exit. Zach then talks to the ladies and tells them Brianna told him how some girls are making them feel uncomfortable, and he wants to talk to some people.

First up is Christina, who Zach tells he’s heard a lot of things are being said about her behavior. Christina tells him that girls have came to her and she thought she cleared the air. Zach says he’s worried, which causes Christina to break down hysterically. She explains she never wanted to intentionally hurt anyone. She then collapses in the stairs in the mansion weeping, meanwhile Zach gets more info from  the ladies about Christina’s behavior.

Shortly after, Jesse shows up and tells the ladies that the pool party is over.

Rose Ceremony

Before giving out the roses, Zach explains that decisions he’s making aren’t easy, but he’s grateful to have the opportunity.

He then gives roses to Jess, Gabi, Ariel, Genevie, Greer, Kat, Kylee, Davia, Anastasia, Brooklyn, and Mercedes.

I’m actually extremely shocked that he chose to send home Christina.

Christina is speechless, and says it hurts that she was sent home.

I mean I feel Christina lacked self awareness and I honestly believe she didn’t realize how she came across, but her and Zach did have a genuine connection.

Kaity and Ally are definitely the front runners right now after both dates which seemed to go well.

I can’t wait to see what happens next
